Upper Midwest CRAFT Field Day: Think Outside of the [CSA] Box: Growing Hemp

  • Turtle Creek Gardens N5105 Pinnow Road Delavan, WI, 53115 United States (map)

This field day is for the smaller scale grower who is interested in diversifying their cropping system by adding a high value crop — hemp. Hemp is very adaptable, especially for vegetable growers! Learn more about growing small scale hemp for CBD oil, grain, and small pot hemp oil seed.

Host farm Turtle Creek Gardens is currently growing hemp for Connoils. Having market for making these decisions is important and Connoils represents a buyer in the marketplace for this product. Representatives from Connoils will be available at the field day for discussion.

In addition to growing hemp, Turtle Creek is also launching a hub for small scale growers to increase their profits. The hub is an oil seed hub for small scale farmers who seek to diversify their cropping system to include other high value crops such as industrial hemp. The hub will also be a service provider; interested hemp growers can come to the hub seeking growing advisement. The hub will also help connect growers with potential buyers, advise on best practices, and provide the tools and equipment for on farm processing (i.e. coordinate combines, washing facilities, dryers, etc.). Turtle Creek Gardens wants to be able to service farmers so they have infrastructure to enter this emerging markets and leverage them.

Join us at the hemp field day to learn more on how to diversify what you are doing and think outside of the CSA box.

This field day is FREE to all. Lunch will be provided. RSVP is mandatory, please do so by Monday, August 23rd. Use the Google Form located here. Not a CRAFT member, but interested in joining? Click here. Veterans email farmertraining@learngrowconnect.org to learn more about our scholarships!
